Another reason why I never check the mail

perhaps my new profile pic for everything always

Star Wars inspired

Thirty-four years ago today, the movie was released.

A 3-year old explains Star Wars

Never knew what they were a part of.

Best sleeping bag ever? You thought they smelled bad on the outside.

Private moments.  Who knew Vader read magazines on parenting?

This is great. Awkward start to the interview but they are completely talking about the trilogy that would come out seventeen years later and the confusion everyone would have.

She knows exactly how to ride a roller coaster.

Take a minute and enjoy the view.

Hello, Randomz

You shall have your golden crown

I Love Westeros

Pre-historic social networks

Wow. Who remembers these?

Emvon

The point is that she is moving on.
You do the same and hey, you might catch her one day.

But if you keep running in place, you will find that she’s long gone.
She loves you, but she’s got to live her life.

People change. You ought to try it some time.

We could be heroes

Why would Spidey be hanging with the Justice League?  And who let Spawn in the room?
This is an outrage.  But good job on the Osama kill, yo.

Meanwhile, ask your bartender for an Osama cocktail:
two shots and a splash of water

Get busy living or get busy dying

There are only 11 days of shopping until there are NO days of shopping.

We've been faking it forever

My response to someone who saw no more value in Facebook

It's main purpose is still true, it connects people that otherwise we may never hear from again.  Sure there is a certain amount of "so what?" that comes from that point, but the way our lives are, we would let most people go and move on.  Many of us suddenly have friendships that are now sustained long-distance.  I have re-introduced dozens of people to my life that I would not have ever seen again otherwise.  Many are people that I see regularly now since moving back to Atlanta.  My old D&B restaurant crew reconnected because of FB.   We all hang out again and have had a couple of mass reunion parties.  Dozens of people, together again and interacting daily online; people who would have otherwise been relegated to old photo albums from years gone by.

Additionally, because of newly formed circles of friends, we have brand new people added to our lives.  There are a few people, my top tier friends, that would never have been in my life at all if not through social media.  One I met on MySpace, without common friends at all...just a common interest...and she is now one of my best friends.  Actually, in some little ways through me, she has affected over a half of a dozen people in my life that have never even met her at all.  It has to do with pop culture but entire new interests have formed for many people just because I introduced something new that she had already introduced to me.  They aren't aware of the origins but I find it fascinating because I can see that we are all Six Degrees of Everybody now.

....I just now reviewed my recently contacted list on my phone and my interactions on Facebook.  I can honestly say that more than half of my friendships are owed to Facebook keeping them alive or re-sparking them.  And there are several friendships that simply would not have been created at all if not for social media.

I won't even go into the "networking" aspect that has led to jobs and various opportunities for people.

Sure, we are in responsible for our own privacy.  It is up to us to decide about our level of sharing.  Still, social media as our virtual Roladex is one the most important aspects to the internet which is already one of the most important inventions in human history.

School books never written

I found these on the Cracked web site. Funniness.

The Missing Bookend? Hopefully

"I’ve never wished a man dead, but I have read some obituaries with great pleasure."
- Mark Twain

Ten years of effort by both Bush and Obama. Do not discount the previous administration's efforts. The clear lesson here is just how much corruption lies within Pakistan that continually thwarted our efforts this past decade, costing many lives, a lot of money, and helped brew much dissension within this country that was already vulnerable to it.

Oh hey, water boarding? Guantanamo? Those are illegal actions (apparently). Is it right to do something "illegal" if it is for the greater good? Example: going into Pakistan illegally Sunday to put an end to all the things that those other illegal actions were also working towards. The greater good is always lost in the gray. Like two inhumane bombs dropped on an already faltering Japan just so we could keep our boys from having to mount a land invasion and suffer massive losses...(and to show the Soviets what we had). Yes, always gray. And criticism is easy from afar and after the fact.

The new Sims game is really advanced story telling.

And other things to worry about... Zombie bin Laden

By the way, Waldo..your candy ass is next

The last thing Bin Laden saw.

One Liners from the following hours:

*Stephen Colbert: "I am as giddy as a school girl...........that just shot Bin Laden in the eye!"

*Just spoken by St. Peter, "Sorry, Osama, you're at the wrong gate."

*Trump wants to see the long-form death certificate.

*Don't know what the situation will be like in the coming days, but for tonight, the US
Terror Alert Level has been raised to "Confetti"---from Twitter
