The Dark Knight Rule Change

This year The Oscars upset me by expanding to ten movies.  Still, I realize that the end result may be that popular movies will become better. Sure "The Blind Side" is not "Field of Dreams", "District 9" is not "The Shawshank Redemption", and "Avatar" is simply some kind of Dances with Smurfs, but all are solid movies with great stories. Perhaps the Academy gave Hollywood the incentive to make mainstream movies that are more worthwhile for the masses.

When you pay ten bucks, it is nice to get a decent movie that may be worth of thinking about later instead of a fun movie that simply evaporates as you watch it. Too bad that they made the rule change to bring back interest from mainstream moviegoers too late for our beloved Caped Crusader to prove itself as formidable as the Na'vi.
